The Jefferson County Genealogical Society (JCGS) is holding a workshop to help people in the area write their family histories for the upcoming Jefferson County History and Families book.
The workshop is planned at Hope Lutheran Church located at 2308 Gravois Rd. in High Ridge on June 23 from 3 to 7 PM. Come when it is convenient and leave when one wishes. Copies of other books published by other counties will be on display. This will include examples of family submissions.
The Jefferson County Genealogical Society is hard at work compiling information for publication of a history of the county. The book will include family histories, plus the history of the Jefferson County. On behalf of the genealogical society, Christine Merseal, President of JCGS, urges each family to take advantage of this opportunity to submit a family sketch to be included in the volume. There is no charge for having your family story and photograph included. Histories should be 500 words or less.
Volunteers will be available at this event to assist individuals wishing to contribute to this publication, but don’t know how to start. Also a scanner will be available to create a digital image of any photograph brought to the event for the purpose of submission to the publication.
Pre-orders for the Jefferson County History and Families book will also be taken at the workshop. Copies start at $54.95.
