There’s a story making the rounds about a British couple who met, fell in love, married, and then discovered that they were fraternal twins who’d been separated at birth and adopted into different families. Even worse, neither twin knew he or she “had a twin” until after the marriage had been consumated.

According to Lord David Alton, the marriage has since been annulled and the identities of the star-crossed twins not as yet revealed (but count on one or more media vultures to do so). The story came up because of pending British legislation that would make it mandatory that children be told at some point that they are the products of donated sperm / in vitro fertilization, and that twins in the social services labyrinth be sent to foster homes / adopted as a pair if at all possible.
